A stokvel is a traditional South African community savings group where members contribute a fixed amount of money regularly. The pooled funds are then distributed to members on a rotating basis or used for a shared purpose like groceries, burials, or investments.
After signing up, tap the "+" button or "Create Stokvel" option on the home screen. Enter your stokvel's name, select a type (savings, burial, grocery, investment, or other), set the contribution amount and frequency, and you're ready to go. Share the invite code with your members.
Ask the stokvel creator or admin for the 6-character invite code. Then tap "Join Stokvel" and enter the code. You'll be added to the group and can start participating immediately.
No. Stokvel Manager is a record-keeping and organisational tool only. It does not hold, transfer, or process any money. All financial transactions happen directly between stokvel members (via cash, EFT, etc.). The app simply helps you track and organise these transactions.
Payout schedules are determined by the stokvel members and managed by the group's administrators (chairperson, treasurer, or secretary). The app helps you schedule and track payouts, but the actual distribution of funds is decided by your group.
Yes. We use Firebase (by Google) which provides enterprise-grade security including data encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication, and strict access controls. Your data is only accessible to you and the members of your stokvels.
Open your stokvel, tap "Contribute", select the member, enter the amount and payment method (cash, EFT, or other), and optionally upload a proof of payment photo. The contribution will be recorded and visible to all members.
Yes! You can create and join multiple stokvels. Your home screen shows all your stokvels with their balances, and you can switch between them easily.
You can delete your account from the app's Settings page, or visit our Account Deletion page for detailed instructions. You can also email us at stokvel@buyitfastest.co.za to request account deletion.
Yes, Stokvel Manager is completely free to download and use. There are no hidden charges, subscription fees, or in-app purchases.
