Account Deletion
We respect your right to control your data. You can permanently delete your Stokvel Manager account and associated data at any time using one of the methods below.
Warning: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Once deleted, you will lose access to all your stokvels, contribution history, and other data associated with your account.
Method 1: Delete from the App
The quickest way to delete your account is directly from the app:

Open Settings
Open the Stokvel Manager app and navigate to the Settings page from the tab bar or menu.

Go to Account
Scroll down to the Account section in Settings.

Tap "Delete Account"
Tap the "Delete Account" option. You will be asked to confirm your decision.

Confirm Deletion
Confirm that you want to permanently delete your account. Your account and data will be removed.
Method 2: Request Deletion via Email
If you are unable to access the app or prefer to request deletion via email:
- Send an email to stokvel@buyitfastest.co.za with the subject line "Account Deletion Request".
- Include the email address or phone number associated with your account.
- We will verify your identity and process your deletion request within 7 business days.
- You will receive a confirmation email once your account has been deleted.
What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:
- Profile Information: Your name, email, phone number, and profile photo.
- Account Credentials: Your login details and authentication data.
- Preferences: Your savings goals, notification settings, and app preferences.
- Uploaded Images: Any proof of payment photos and profile images you uploaded.
- Stokvel Memberships: You will be removed from all stokvels you belong to.
What May Be Retained
Certain data may be retained in anonymised form after account deletion:
- Contribution Records: Your past contributions within stokvels may be retained as anonymised financial records for the group's bookkeeping purposes. Your name will be removed from these records.
- Payout Records: Historical payout records may be retained in anonymised form for group records.
- Dispute Records: If you were involved in disputes, the dispute content may be retained in anonymised form.
This retention is necessary to maintain the financial integrity of stokvel records for other members.
Before You Delete
Before deleting your account, please consider:
- If you are a chairperson of a stokvel, you should transfer the chairperson role to another member before deleting your account.
- Settle any outstanding contributions or payouts with your stokvel members.
- Download or note any records you may need for your personal bookkeeping.
- Inform your stokvel members that you will be leaving the group.
